We are about to embark upon our 110th year. I am certain that our predecessors in this club would approve of the way in which we have cared for, and nurtured the legacy they left behind.
Perhaps it is precisely the fact this year passed without significant crisis that hallmarks the continued success of our club. That means we have had more time to attend to our growth and future. Most importantly perhaps, we have been able to enjoy our hobby without the distraction of internal bickering and strife. I entreat all of us to do our parts to continue in this vein.
Some of the notable things we have accomplished this year are:
- The establishment of a tool room.
- A first ever survey of members’ opinions of our club and the services it delivers.
- The establishment of a standing program committee.
- Preliminary discussions about a strategic plan.
- A complete revision of the club’s web site.
These accomplishments would not have been possible without a strong corps of officers and directors, and without the support of the membership. Thanks to all of you.
Next month we will hold elections. It is your club. Let your voice be heard by attendance at the meeting and the casting of your vote. Of course we will also celebrate the season with our traditional club Christmas Party immediately after the meeting.
I wish you and your families a Merry Christmas and a joyous and fruitful 2008.
